Sometimes sorry isn't enough....It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems...
Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better--the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.
On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.
In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay.
Em and Chase have been chosen.
My Thoughts:
With a great take on the Greek mythology about the Furies, I am happy to say that Miles has written a pleasing read which I thoroughly enjoyed. This book was completely different to anything I have ever read before and I found it to be quite intriguing.

Miles has a nice and flowing writing style which makes the story an easy read and quite fun to be honest. I think she shows great detail when it comes to her characters and their world as she laid the drama out to unravel which made the story fun to read.

This story was also scary and quite creepy to be quite frank, I mean you wouldn’t want to see a stranger’s face staring through a window at you, would you? I didn’t think so, this book is great in the sense that it shows many sides to a single story although we only read from two alternating point of views.

I loved some of the characters such as JD and Ty, Ali and Meg as well as Chase but I did find sometimes I felt that some of the character’s had personality disorders or something as I did not find them to be constantly the same. I understand that characters usually do develop throughout a book, what I do not understand however was the fact that when reading from Em’s point of view, she sounded like a girl who shouldn’t be friends with the popular crowd, I interpreted her voice as that of a girl who would find herself enemies with such a crowd, but maybe I misinterpreted her as a character and this is purely my opinion.

The end of this book had me wanting more and I cannot wait for the sequel. I think that Miles did a good job with this book and I am pleased to say that I look forward to what she has to publish in the future.

  2. The job of the furies is to seek revenge for those who they feel need it against those they deserve it. This whole book has a creepy movie feel to it. I could actually see it come out on the big screen. Although the characters so so many wrong things and justify it to make you hate them they are so wonderfully developed you can¿t help love them. This is the first book in this series and it will definitely not be the last one I read. The ending definitely leaves you hanging for more. Definitely one to recommend to all of your friends who like creepy, paranormal, mythical type things.
