On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past. In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine. A Beautiful Dark is the first book in a captivating trilogy by debut author Jocelyn Davies.
My Thoughts:
Wow this book was amazing! A stunning novel that is absolutely beautiful written and this book definitely made its way up on my list; I can safely say that it is one of my favorite books of 2011.

Jocelyn Davies stumped me with her absolutely flawless and beautiful voice that she used to tell this astounding story. The way in which she wrote; the words she chose both simple and intricate did not fail to put a smile on my face. The voice present in this book was wonderful and drew me in and I was instantly addicted. I find it hard to explain what it was exactly that made the way in which this book was written so enjoyable for me but all I know is that I absolutely loved it and I cannot wait to read more from the great Jocelyn Davies!

The characters; I loved the characters so much, they were well rounded and well thought out. Cassie was really my favorite and I could not get enough of her and her strange sense of humor. I could see certain aspects of myself in her but at the same time I was able to relate to all of the characters on a certain level and that really made them truly believable for me. I did not know what it was about Skye but I loved her as the main character and loved reading from her point of view.

I did not read the blurb on the back of the book and a sad fact about me is that I buy books because of their covers and when I began reading A Beautiful Dark I did not know what I was getting myself into but I was not at all disappointed by it and I loved the feeling that when I was reading it I did not know what paranormal aspects there would be in this extremely riveting world.

A Beautiful Dark really made me remember why I fell in love with reading and was just so addicted to reading in the first place, so thank you to Jocelyn Davies for this brilliantly exquisite book!
