{Cover Crazy} 8: Fever by Lauren DeStefano

Cover Crazy is hosted by Tawni at The Book WormsStop by and join in on the fun.
This week I am crazy about the cover for:
Fever by Lauren DeStefano

Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.
Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.
The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.
I Love absoluetly everything about this cover; the concept, the colours and everything! I like how the concept from Wither is still present yet it has a life of its own! I cannot wait to read the second book in this amazing series!

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My Thoughts:
There was a lot of hype for this book and I was absolutely glad to find that this addictive book lived up to the hype. Shatter Me is a stunning debut that will have you feeling all kinds of emotions.

Mafi does an excellent job with her fantastic writing style that seems effortless and is beautiful to read. The metaphors which she uses are stunning and made me fall in love with this book more and more as it progressed. The strikethroughs that are present on the cover are also ever present within the book.

The strikethroughs were really symbolic for me and I really appreciate this wonderful book which Mafi wrote. Despite the fact that there is a thread in the story which focuses mainly on Juliette and her powers, there is constantly an underlying theme of not conforming to what society wants you to be. This book can really teach you a valuable lesson. The strikethroughs represented what Juliette thought and these thoughts were often thoughts that the world around her thought about her. the strikethroughs showed that these were not the thought she should have been thinking and show that you should truly believe what you want and don’t be what society wants you to be. Be nothing other than yourself and love yourself because you do not have imperfections, the reason I say this is because if someone loves you, they love every part of you and these supposed “imperfections” are actually beautiful features which make you who you are. Thank you Tahereh for making this message visible through your beautifully written book. This book may be interpreted in whichever way you choose to see it, but that is what I learned from this book.

Juliette is a great main character and I loved reading from her point of view, she added to the feeling of this truly empowering book which absolutely blew my mind and had me wanting more. The world was well thought out and very exciting in the most disastrous way. It was beautiful.

This book surely has something for everyone to take away from it; whether you prefer genres such as: romance, action, fantasy, adventure or paranormal books, you will love this book and will surely learn a valuable lesson.

This book was intoxicating and beautiful filled with rich messages which can only help you in life. This book is definitely one of my favourite books for 2011. I ask you all to read it and let me know if you enjoyed it as much as I did. Thank you Tahereh Mafi for this wondrously thrilling book!
